Description

This module will look at the various legal mechanisms which are available to protect the results of intellectual endeavour, namely trade secrecy, patents, trade marks and passing off. The module will adopt a predominantly national approach to the law, comparatively including European and international perspectives. The module will combine a philosophical and practical approach to legal issues: encouraging students to contextualise the law in a wider framework of reform; and to look beyond the immediate options for legal redress to the overall situation in which litigation arises.
